Transfering Designs

My favourite method of transferring designs is chacopaper.  My favourite brand is Mona Lisa Super Chacopaper, which comes in white and blue.  There are many advantages to using this method:

- there is no need to flip images backwards (as in tracing)

- the lines traced out are very clear with very little smudge around them (unlike dressmaker's carbon paper, which is more dusty than chacopaper)

- the lines disappear completely with either a wet cloth or a simple drenching under a cold running tap

You layer the fabric, the chacopaper (waxy side down) and your design, and draw on the design with a stylus or a pen.  You can tape all these pieces down with a small piece of tape if the design is detailed and might take a while.  That way you can lift up a corner to see how far you have gotten and to make sure all your lines are showing up properly.

I usually like to trace out a batch of stuff at a time and have three four different projects prepped and ready to go.  It makes trips and lazy afternoons even better when I can just pick up a project and run with it.
